The interview playing on the car radio was improvised by Ed Herbstman and Melanie Hoopes.
Only a small portion is heard in the story -- here it is in its entirety:
This story was made collaboratively, as a group. We started with the idea of a couple helping a drunk woman get home, only to discover that she's actually a couples' therapist. From that idea we developed an outline, and tested the outline using improv, and made adjust-ments based on what worked.
All of the material heard on the car radio was recorded first, and played through the car's cd player. Then for about five hours, the actors improvised according to the final outline in an actual car on location in New York City. The drive-thru in the story is a real location, at 10th Ave & 34th St.
EQUIPMENT
We recorded the car material using four Sony UWP-V1 wireless lavalier microphones, and a Shure VP88 stereo mic. We recorded all 6 tracks into a Zoom R16 multi-track recorder. All of the post-production was done in ProTools.
